In the age of the cloud there are still businesses that require physical hardware to meet business or regulatory requirements, an in-house cloud may not be wanted. However, OpenStack has many capabilities that can serve the needs for this type of business. An engineer may want to provision racks of machines with an OS or scrub the entire rack of all data and then upgrade the firmware!
Tools exist in OpenStack to bridge the gap between the cloud and the physical, in particularly bare metal. This talk will cover some of the things developed in OpenStack to allow for easy management and deployment of bare metal systems. The talk will focus on Ironic, Ironic-Inspector, Ironic-Python-Agent, DiskImage-Builder, and Bifrost.
