Nearly 700 registered for the first Open Source 101 in Raleigh this past February

The first Open Source 101 was held this past February at the McKimmon Center at NC State University in Raleigh, NC.

Nearly 700 registered from throughout the Research Triangle Park and the southeastern U.S.  Those attending included undergraduate and graduate CS students from colleges and universities as well as professional technologists wanting to learn more.

A few of the highlights included:

  • 700 registering and 500+ attending and on-site throughout the day
  • More than 10 colleges and universities represented, including NC State, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, NCA&T, NC Central, Shaw University, Elon, and others.
  • Six (6) tracks and 33 world-class sessions
  • Content focusing on the processes and tools integral to open source
  • Four (4) amazing keynote talks
  • World-class companies like SAS, Capital One, Red Hat, and IBM onsite recruiting talent
  • Girl Develop It RDU onsite recruiting volunteers
  • Networking throughout the day
